SCYTHE was formed in the spring of 1994 by Sven and Olli. Following several years of writing songs and making small numbers of demo tapes, the first step towards something concrete came in 1999 with the release of the "Last Eclipse" demo that featured for the first and last time a 3 person line up consisting of Sven on guitar / vocals, Olli on bass and newest member Norman on drums. Despite the departure of Olli in 2000, Sven and Norman continued on and wrote and recorded the next demo "Silent Is The Future" which saw the light of day in 2001. The 2 member band progressed as songwriters and musicians by the time they embarked on the writing and recording of their 3rd release entitled "On My Way Home". This would mark a turning point for the band as they got in touch with underground label Witches Brew, who loved the album and gave it a professional release in June 2002. SCYTHE wasted no time and got working right away on material for the next album, "Poetry Of Illusions", which saw a release in 2003 on the same label. When 2004 rolled around, it was time to celebrate the band's 10th year anniversary with the release of "The Process Of Rotting" in July 2004 and contained re-recorded demo songs from the past, documenting the roots of the band which always remained in oldschool Death Metal combined with excellent melodic atmosphere. In 2005 work started on the album "Decay" and the band became a foursome during live shows with Olli returning on rhythm guitar and Al taking care of the bass duties. Currently after the 2006 release Sven and Norman are working on a new album scheduled for a release in autumn 2008.
